Good morning, everyone. It is nice to meet you all through reading your posts. I am 46, married, a mother of two, and a Christian since college days. I've suffered with depression since high school. It comes and goes. I function just fine for about 75% of the time, and then the rest of the time I battle overwhelming fatigue, lack of interest in anything, and serious suicidal thoughts. I've tried just about every type of medication out there, I've tried counseling, I've tried deliverance from evil spirits, I've tried spiritual retreats, but I know that true change will come not from an event, but from a process. Even though I am a Christian, I can't seem to really desire Jesus, which has led me to question my faith. Those closest to me see Jesus working in my life and using me, but I feel estranged from Him, not in love with Him like I need to be. I don't know how to call on His strength or walk in it. I'm not suicidal right now, but was explaining to a friend last night that I feel like I'm walking underwater, where it's a huge effort even to get dressed or drive to the store or make phone calls. I know that I need to be healed, and that the solution is in Jesus somehow. I also need the supportive fellowship of other believers who understand the battle.

Dear Sally,

Your post sounds like it could have been me two years ago. It saddens me to hear your pain and bondage to the deception of depression. I know those awful feelings that you are describing.

Quote:
Even though I am a Christian, I can't seem to really desire Jesus, which has led me to question my faith.
That is one of the biggest lies that the enemy used to deceive me with. I felt that way too. Not FEELING close to God does not mean that we are not saved! Being saved has nothing to do with feelings. No matter how we feel, when we give our lives to Christ, we are SAVED! The enemy lies to us and tries to deceive us into believing what we feel instead of believing what is TRUE in God's Word. Do you BELIEVE that Jesus came and died for your sins? Then you are a believer, and you are SAVED. You are a Child of God. Now we just got to get you walking in your freedom from the bondage of depression so you can be used mightily in the Kingdom of God! The joy of the Lord is our Strength!

I know that you can walk in the same deliverance that I am walking in. God loves you just like He loves me and Jesus paid the same price for you that he paid for me. It was a revelation of the reality of God's love, faithfulness and acceptance that set me free. God is able to set you free! If you can believe that, you are on your way to your deliverance. I was 56 when I started walking in my deliverance. Your testimony can be "I got delivered when I was 46!" God will use all the years that the enemy deceived us, for good.
Quote:
All things work together for good for those who love the Lord, for those who are called according to His Purpose. Romans 8:28
Everything that the enemy uses for evil, God will turn it around for our good.
Quote:
Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

Quote:
YOU SAID: I know that I need to be healed, and that the solution is in Jesus somehow. I also need the supportive fellowship of other believers who understand the battle.

I hope and pray that this can be a place where you can receive the support and understanding that will lead you into a deeper relationship with Jesus. He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
Quote:
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36

You are so right. He is the only True solution to our problems.

Thank you, Bev, for your kind words of encouragement. I do want that freedom at age 46 that you found later in life. I will take the time later tonight to read through your testimony. After that, I'll have more questions for you. Church was good this morning, though it was difficult to concentrate on worshipping. I praise the Lord that I even felt well enough to go! Smile
